I got this great package of Indian flavours delivered a while ago. A very small box packed with all sorts of spices and a grocery list and a recipe card to prepare a very flavourful vegetarian Indian dish: Tandoori Mushroom Curry.
Flavour Delivered offers different sorts of packages and recipes: meat, fish and vegetables. With these packages you can discover different spices and herbs and discover a new type of cuisine. For us it was a very nice experience.
The recipe card was for 4 people and this was really enough. I even got a grocery list, ideal for a quick shopping trip.
I prepared a gluten free version of naans – Indian flat bread- cucumber salad and a vegetable stew.
The naans were very easy to prepare, I had to bake them in a grill pan on top of some foil. A very easy and clean way of cooking.
I really liked the recipe for the vegetable stew and the naans, only the cucumber with yoghurt was not our cup of tea. Since we eat dairy free, I used a yoghurt and cream by Valio, but the combination of cucumber and dairy just isn’t for us.
Since we eat at least 4 times a vegetarian a week, the package from Flavour Delivered was a nice way to discover new types of spice without investing in a whole new bunch of spices you are not sure you will use.
I was surprised at how many spices I had to use for the curry. Turmeric, curry, cumin, black pepper….The flavours were incredible. Very yummie but next time I will not use the cardamom in a whole. It has a too distinctive flavor when you bite it.
The curry was really good and tasty, but kind of a heavy meal. One portion was more than enough for us. I was happy to have the fresh cucumbers and the naan with the curry to have some variation on our plates. The tea was a nice finishing touch. We are not used to drinking tea with our meals so this added to the ‘exotic’ experience.
