As you might already have know I am a big fan of Jamie Oliver. He practically taught me how to cook with his first books. I have a lot of his cookbooks but still need to get me a copy of Jamie’s Comfort Food and the 15 minute meals. His latest book Jamies Super Food is yet again a very fine cookbook where Jamie is following the health food trend. As he writes in his book with his 40th birthday approaching he wanted to know more about food and how it could effect our body and well being. My cup of tea.
The recipes are all rather easy to prepare and Jamie points out how the recipes fit in your daily routine. At the end of the book he gives tips of how to lead a happier and healthier life. Most of this information you already know but it is written in a very clear way. Here are some of the tips:
- Balance
- Buy bio and local
- Drink enough water! (I always filter my water with a Brita jug and then pimp it with some herbs or lime)
- Use olive oil, nut oil or sunflower oil but be careful not using too much coconut oil.
- Move and be active
- Sleep well and sleep enough
I will share my favorite recipe from this book with you soon: granola powder. Very yummie and original.
For the launch of this book I was invited to go to Amsterdam a party at Jamie’s 15 restaurant. A difficult choice to be mad because on the same night the Weekend Blogawards were hosted in Brussels.
Since I am a long time big fan of Mr Oliver I opted to travel to Amsterdam. I was there 2 hours before the event so I got the time to stroll around the city and go for some window shopping at the Bijenkorf.
I was really excited about meeting Jamie in the flesh and was a little disappointed it was such a huge event. I kind of acted like a 16 year old One Direction fan trying to get a selfie with my foodie idol but to no avail. No hello, selfie or autograph for me…. The bodyguard and manager kept me in sight at all times, damn. This is how close I got (no zoom):
Nevertheless it was nice seeing how after a long and tiring session where he had his photograph taken numerous times with the staff of the restaurant, the staff of the publishing house, the staff of Jamie Magazine,..Mr Oliver relived at his stove. As he gave a quick cooking demonstration I saw the Naked Chef again, moving his hands, tasting the food and talking enthusiastic about his recipe. Loved it!
