When I was little my grandmother hosted a bridge afternoon twice a week. Her friends came over and had a great afternoon full of brain training (the bridge part), juicy gossiping (girls will be girls at every age) and tea with candy.
The candy I will always remember from those afternoons are the Neuzekes or Cuberdons. A little too sweet for my taste but I liked the fact that they were always nicely set out on a plate, not like regular candy in a big jar. They were special.
When I was invited by Geldhof and Yapadoo to a brunch in Ghent at Table d’Alix to try out the new assortment of cuberdons with a lot of other bloggers I really wanted to go. Not because I am such a big fan, but mostly out of nostalgia. And because it is always nice to chat with my fellow bloggers and get to know new people.
The brunch was superb. A very nice location: a big barn in an even bigger garden hidden in the centre of Ghent.
The neuzekes were all around and I tried them all:
- the classic
- the blueberry cuberdon
- the strawberry cuberdon
- the agar agar cuberdon
- the chocolate cuberdons: with milk chocolate and dark chocolate.
My oh my for all of you with a sweet tooth this was the place to be….
All of these treats are gluten free and all but the chocolate ones are lactose free. So of you go and get yourself some cuberdons!
Thank you Geldhof and Yapadoo for the invitation!
