Ho ho ho…this weekend I started my Christmas Shopping. I don’t know if you like to receive cookbooks but there are some nice new books in stores right now. I always love to browse cookbooks and especially when there are beautiful pictures involved I can’t get enough of it.
Look at my little pile of food literature… great no? I will give you some more information on my favorite books.
Vegetables that sparkle the conversation
Seppe Nobels from Graanmarkt 13 has a beautiful book all about 17 vegetables: asparagus, cucumber, beets, pumpkin…. I finally got the recipe for my favorite razor clams. I will definitely try these for our Christmas dinner.
I really love dining out at Graanmarkt 13(read about it here) and it is nice to read about the concept of the restaurant, the store and also to see what you can do with vegetables. Beautiful pictures, some recipes are easy, others more complex. I will definitely try out some.

Simply Nigella
I have warm and especially sweet memories about the first book of Nigella Lawson I bought. In ‘How to become a domestic goddess’ she has some great rich chocolate and sweet recipes. Chocolate Mousse cake, pistachio soufflé, mini pavlova’s. Some of her recipes are really part of your family favorites. In this book Nigella wants to show us that we can feel better by eating better. She doesn’t focus on special ingredients and nutrients but more on the fact that it is easy to prepare fresh home cooked meals even when you don’t have a lot of time on your hands. Lovely scampi noodles with cinnamon and Thai flavoured turkey and my sons favorite: miso glazed salmon. This book is about fresh home made comfort food or as Nigella’s puts it Feel Good Food.

Zoet & Shoot
This is by far the most beautiful book in the list. You just can’t not love the pictures in this book.
Linda gives tips on styling, baking, decorating and photographing all these beautiful yummieness! Oh and I almost forget the great and original recipes. If your are a cake and cookie lover you will certainly like this book. I don’t have the time to start preparing these beauty’s but it’s certainly nice to get inspired and get some tips.
A true gem this book. Even the kids love going through the pages to see what mom can make in the future (they truly believe I am able to bake these kind of cakes. They always forget the dairy and gluten free challenge, but hey, it is nice to have a fan club).
Zoet en Shoot – Linda Lomelino – 34,99€ – Kosmos Uitgeverij
Nooit Meer Dieten
This is a good book for people who are not really following the whole healthy food vibe but who want to change their food habits in order to become more healthy and svelte.
The principles in this book are to me kind of the basic because I am reading a lot of books, articles and blogs on healthy living and diets Sandra writes down the principles to a healthy balanced life in 7 steps.
The recipes in this book are all clear and easy to prepare. Healthy & light and very fresh pictures.
Nooit Meer Dieten – Sandra Bekkari – 24,95€ – Borgerhoff & Lamberigts
Het beste van Peppe
This is a perfect book for all Italian Food aficionado’s. Njam’s well known chef Peppe shares his best recipes for risotto, pasta and some great sauces.
He explains how you can make your own pasta, the secret to a perfect risotto and some other yummie dishes!
Het beste van Peppe – Peppe Giacomazza – 21,99€ – Njam
If you have a friend with small kids the book Puur Natuur by Alain Ducasse is a nice gift too.
Enough inspiration no?
After all this reading I still have some books on my personal wishlist i.e. the new book by Donna Hay and the new Gwyneth Paltrow book that will be in stores in spring 2016.
